Legal
Terms of Use
Effective 7 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Scinops FZE for the Checkt app, website and cloud service. By using Checkt you accept them. Please also read the Privacy Policy.
1. What Checkt does, and what it does not do
Checkt helps you photograph, film and organise the condition of something you rent (such as a car, motorbike, boat, equipment, a home or a storage unit), records when and where photos were taken, calculates file fingerprints and produces reports.
Checkt organises evidence and does not determine fault or liability. It is not legal advice, not insurance and not a guarantee that any rental company, host, insurer, court or other person will accept your report. You remain responsible for inspecting the rental, following your rental agreement and raising any dispute yourself. Quality warnings check light and focus only and say nothing about the condition of what you photographed. Alignment, difference highlights and AI difference descriptions are automatic hints that can be wrong; they are not a finding of damage. A trusted timestamp proves that certain file fingerprints existed by a certain time; it does not prove what the photos show. Dispute letters are templates you edit and send yourself.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You can use the app without an account. If you create one, keep access to your email and device secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings or as described on the Delete your account page.
3. Your content
Your photos, notes and rental details belong to you. You give us a limited licence to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run the service for you, for example to back it up, verify file fingerprints, sync it to your devices and show it to people you send a share link to. This licence ends when your content is deleted from our systems.
You must have the right to capture and store what you upload. Do not use Checkt to photograph people without a lawful basis, to record content that is unlawful, or to infringe anyone’s privacy or rights.
4. Share links, co-travellers and partners
Anyone with a share link can view the report until it expires or you revoke it. You decide who receives a link and are responsible for that choice. We may disable links that are used to share unlawful content.
If you invite co-travellers, they can see the rental and add their own photos, which become part of your record; their access depends on your backup of that rental. Only invite people you travel with. If you join someone else’s rental, the owner controls it and can remove you; photos you added stay in their record.
If you agree to share a report with a partner company that asked for it, the partner receives a report link and uses it under its own terms. Partner offers shown in the app are provided by those partners, not by us.
5. Free features, purchases and subscriptions
- On-device features are free.
- Rental Pass is a one-time purchase that unlocks Pro features for one rental, including cloud copies for up to 12 months after that rental ends.
- Pro Annual is an auto-renewing yearly subscription. It renews at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in the account where you bought it: the App Store or Google Play settings, or, for purchases on our website, the Stripe billing portal linked from the app's Settings and your receipt email. If it ends, cloud copies are kept for 90 days and then deleted.
- Purchases in the app are processed by Apple or Google under their terms, and their refunds are handled by them. Purchases on our website (or from a web link in the app where the store allows it) are processed by Stripe on our behalf; for those, write to checkt@scinops.com for refunds. Nothing here limits any right you have by law, such as a statutory right of withdrawal.
- Deleting your account cancels any web subscription immediately. App Store and Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled in those stores.
- Agreement scanning is limited to 3 scans a month without Pro and is subject to fair use with Pro.
- We may change prices or features for future billing periods; we will tell you in advance and you can cancel before the change applies.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service: no attempts to access other users’ data, interfere with or overload our systems, reverse engineer the service except where the law allows it, or use it to break any law. We may suspend accounts that do.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Checkt available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. On-device features keep working offline. We may update, improve or discontinue features; if we stop the cloud service we will give at least 60 days’ notice so you can export your data.
8. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer. Apart from that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, for the outcome of any dispute with a rental company, host or insurer, or for losses caused by your device, your network or third-party services. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars.
The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law.
9. Ending these terms
You can stop using Checkt and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms. Sections 3, 8 and 11 survive.
10. Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded Checkt from the Apple App Store:
- These terms are between you and Scinops FZE, not Apple. Scinops FZE, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.
- Your licence is a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Scinops FZE, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims.
- Scinops FZE, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any claim that the app infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Governing law

If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring proceedings there.
