What makes it evidence
Every photo carries its own paperwork.
Checkt records facts and keeps them unchanged. It does not judge damage and never claims to know who caused it.

Good to know
Do I need an account?
No. Inspections, reports and PDF export work without an account and without internet. An account is only needed for cloud backup, sync across devices, share links and purchases.
Will the rental company or host accept the report?
Checkt gives you an organised record: original photos, the time and place they were taken, any marks you noted and a SHA-256 fingerprint of each file. It does not decide who caused damage, and nobody is obliged to accept it, but a clear, timestamped record is far stronger than a handful of camera-roll photos.
What does SHA-256 mean here?
It is a fingerprint of the exact bytes of each photo, calculated on your phone when the photo is taken. Change one pixel and the fingerprint changes. Anyone holding the original file can recalculate it and compare. With cloud backup, our server recalculates it on upload and records when it did.
Where are my photos stored?
On your phone, inside the app. Nothing leaves the device unless you turn on cloud backup for a rental (Pro) or share a report yourself.
Does it work for apartments and holiday homes?
Yes. Tell Checkt how many bedrooms and bathrooms there are and which other rooms exist. It builds a room-by-room checklist, including meter readings and the keys you were given.
Can the people I travel with add photos?
Yes, with a backed-up rental. Send them an invite link; they join for free and their photos land in the same record, marked with their name. You can remove people at any time.
What if the company charges me anyway?
Open the rental and tap "Dispute a charge". Checkt writes a factual letter from your record, asks the company to cancel the charge or show its evidence, and attaches the report and your original files with a guide to check them. You edit it and send it yourself.
I run a rental company. Can we use Checkt with our customers?
Yes. Our partner API lets you send customers a link with the booking already filled in and, if they agree, receive the finished report. You can also cover their cloud backup. Write to checkt@scinops.com.
Can I use photos I already took?
Yes. Imported photos are labelled as imported in the report and keep their original date and location when the file contains them.
How do refunds and cancellations work?
Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play, so refunds and subscription cancellations are handled in your Apple or Google account settings.
